Why You should not learn a second language

There are a lot of reasons why one should learn a foreign language. And I even wrote a convincing article about it in Some Unique Reasons to Learn a Language. Check it out! But is there an article on why you shouldn’t learn a second language? If not I’ve found plenty of reasons. Here are some.

You should not learn a second language because it is hard; It is foreign, and that is a “duh”. It is time consuming to say the least. At times it is frustrating. To learn a second language, you need to be committed and not everybody likes to be committed.

You should not learn a second language because you might not need it. You don’t even want to know anyone from another nation so why stress yourself with studying a second language? Learning a second language is annoying. It can be fun but it takes patience and not everybody has patience.

If your job doesn’t require it why waste your time, money and emotion on it. Why should you not learn a second language? You shouldn’t learn a second language because there is no convincing reason to do so. Whether you learn a foreign language or not, you are still going to be you, aren’t you?

Learning a foreign language is expansive; the courses cause a lot of money and it is not profitable. I could go on and on as to why you shouldn’t learn a second language. In fact there might be more reasons to why than why not. But do you seriously need me to help you with that?

The point of this article is not to satisfy your reasons to not want to learn a foreign language or to quit. I was trying to show those who are really struggling but not have given up even though they have millions of reasons to do so. That says a lot about them. And I wanted to encourage them for their persistence.

If you are learning a second language, a foreign language or whatever language right now, knowing it’s hard, and despite the difficulty you haven’t quit, I want to applause you. This article is dedicated to you. It is an evident that you have what it takes to learn it—a heart. You have many excuses to justify quitting but you haven’t. That deserves a comment.
