What do you know about teaching English abroad?

A friend of mind brought an outstanding opportunity to my attention the other day. She proposed to me the idea of teaching English language abroad. More specifically, she challenged me to give it a thought. Thinking about it, it’s not such a bad idea.

Though it sounds like an excellent opportunity, I haven’t had the desire to pursue it yet. However I, wanted to make it a little easier to get information about this opportunity for those considering it, so they can make informative decision. If you’ve done this kind of work before or are doing it now, share what you experience.
Teaching English abroad could be a pleasant career, but realistically can any English speaker who has a heart for teaching English have success?

If you are learning English in your own country, what can you say about the teachers that are teaching you abroad? How are they benefit from it, from you perspective? What difficulties do they face?
